Have you considered leading a study abroad program?
Could you incorporate study abroad into your course?

Do you know where to begin?

Leading an experiential component of your course in an international setting can seem daunting, especially if you've never participated in an educational travel course, either domestically or abroad.  Have no fear!  We are here to help!  For those new to study abroad, or to Mercer, please consider participating in the Faculty-Led Study Abroad Training Course available to you on Canvas!

If you are already a pro, but you need a quick refresher, please review the Faculty-Led Handbook 2023.pdf for any undated information and links to all the policy and forms you will need to develop a proposal.

All program leaders seeking University support for a faculty-led experience abroad complete and submit the Mercer Abroad FACULTY LED PROGRAM ABROAD PROPOSAL FORM (1).pdf with attachments, including the FACULTY-LED PROPOSAL BUDGET WORKSHEET 2023-2024.xlsx. Once the proposal is approved, you will be contacted by the Study Abroad Program Coordinator to negotiate any details, set up an online program application, and complete a student recruitment plan.

If you prefer to use an outside vendor to assist with the development of your program and to organize the logistics, please see our list of approved affiliate providers in the Mercer University Faculty Led Handbook or contact the Study Abroad Program Coordinator for advice.

Please note that all Mercer University community members traveling internationally on official business outside of Mercer Abroad or Mercer on Mission approved programs are required to register with the Office of International Programs. If you have any questions about your international program or travel, please contact the Office of International Programs at studyabroad@mercer.edu or (478) 301-5964.
